Freshness of Darkness
Finally moved from XP to 7 and now my Logic 5 is saying that my XS Key Authorisation has expired. I can not use the ESX24, ESP, etc :(

I can not find anywhere how to buy/get new auth codes, does anyone know wtf I can do :(

Also because my install CD is 5.01 I can not get the update to 5.5 anymore, obviously because emagic.de no longer exists and Apple Support is bollocks, and they will not help.

Yes this Logic is 10 years old, yes I can use newer, but no, it's what I use.

Please help :(

NO I do not want cracked software, I own this.

Please help make my XS key work again :( :(

CHeers!

It's no longer supported. Hate to tell you, but you're gonna wanna put money to the side for a Mac. Even a Mac mini can run Logic 9 to the point if you jumping from 5.5 you'll be impressed.

Yes I realise it's not supported, I don't need / want a mac. Also my setup works exactly as I need it to, I don't need any other setup, I have used it like this for years. My emu esi4000 turbo and akai cd3000 work flawlessly with my setup through scsi and when I tried them with a mac I found out osx does not support my scsi card, etc.

I installed 7 to take advantage of more ram, wish I hadn't.

If anyone has a more constructive comment I'd appreciate it, otherwise I'm just gonna go proper oldskool and dig out the ste and notator

Then there is all the mixermaps I have made for my various bits of hardware, the virus especially, templates, etc. If I got a mac there is also the fact I would have to buy all my software again, which I'm not. Moving to mac is not an option for me.

I have tried everything, I asked on DOA too. Has a very kind person got an old logic 5 exs authorisation code they want to donate? I don't care about the other instruments, they can stay expired. I can give my xs key number

If you want to run an unsupported legacy software sequencer then you'd better stick with the legacy operating system. It's as simple as that.

The Logic 5 copy protection is not supported in Windows 7, you should have looked into that before upgrading.

Quite true, it's best to keep an old machine with the respective OS to run legacy software.

Until recently I was using a computer from 1996 (the RTC battery finally died and I damaged the MB trying to fix it :() and apart from not being able to put my old ISA cards into a modern machine, all the software I was using needs an older OS to run, so it's no good being able to attach a serial Cubase dongle or add a SCSI card into a computer running a new OS because you want to use MESA or ReCycle with your old samplers etc, if the backwards compatibility isn't there you're just bound to be disappointed.

Cheers for the replies, appreciated. I hear you Carey, but it installed fine, my xskey authorised logic no problem, all my bought plugins like atmosphere, kontact, etc work but the exs and other logic instruments don't, they all need authorisation codes, but shouldn't. Unless my xskey is corrupted, which I don't think so. It is authorised, as I own the codes. My tunes all work fine, just minus the exs, which I need. Logic 5.01 and 5.10 work in windows 7, it is version 5.5 that does not fyi

Reinstall XP, get another DAW(Adobe Audition is a good option) or go back to using the earlier ver. of the Logic that did work on win7. Sorry my comments weren't "constructive" enough. But in the end, you, sir have an ancient setup. Modernizing it in any way will present conflicts.

I suggested a Mac Mini because you can run it right alongside your PC Setup without wasting any space(it's the size of a Ext. CD Burner)and for fairly cheap. It would also give you acess to Logic 9 which may open alot more doors and possibilities for you since you're used to a DAW from over a decade ago alot has changed since then.
