I wanna listen to more bands like drowning pool godsmack korn evanescence nine inch nails but obviously my knowledge is limited.

Can someone help me find some good heavy metal hard alternative metal bands or name some I can look up ?

Definitely check out Tool... you listen to one song over and over and keep hearing different elements/patterns each time. Really good stuff.

yea tool is good for a fresh sound, lot of time goes into thgeir song. Listen to slayer, cannibal corpse, and sepultura

necrophagist - extreamly technical metal, those guitars are insane

System of a Down. My all time favorite album is still Toxicity, and that means alot being that I listen mainly to hip hop.

If you like Tool and NIN, A Perfect Circle's good too...

Also check out Death and Cryptopsy.

If you want some work with rhythms, look into Meshuggah.

Crazy metallic hardcore = Converge
Sabbathy stoner metal = The Sword

Some of my faves:

Between the buried and me
The Tony Danza tapdance extravaganza
Neurosis
Ion Dissonance
Crowpath
Botch

Most of these bands are a bit of a jump from Korn or Drowning pool, but they get me thru my day anyway ;)

i dont really like metal that much but i do like slayer and pantera.

avenged sevenfold is a really good band as well.

and believe it or not, sum 41 is actually pretty damn heavy and talented. especially on the last two albums "does this look infected?" and "chuck". those two albums have a perfect blend of heaviness and melody in my opinion

What about Opeth, anyone?
They make the most beautiful music. I would also add Slayer, Tool, and Pantera but they've already been mentioned. Oh the Melvins. Check out the Stoner Witch album.

opeth is really cool...

my friend gave me a cd so i could sample some of their acoustic break downs.
rise against is awesome... more heavy punk rock but ****in good. the crown is cool. death (who created death metal) are really good in their later albums.

Oh yeah. Also, the collab album with Lustmord (Pigs of the Roman Empire) is stunning.

I think I'll add a few bands right now since I'm a major metalhead (all styles of metal too). There's alot more, but I'm not on my home computer at the moment so I can't compile a huge list.

Rhapsody (now Rhapsody of Fire, all of their albums are great)
Luca Turilli (guitarist from Rhapsody, excellent composer)
Dreamquest (another of Turilli's side projects)
Tristania
Sirenia
Leaves Eyes
Dimmu Borgir
Dragonlord (not to be confused with Dragonforce, symphonic extreme metal like newer Dimmu Borgir)
Graveworm
Tidfall
Vintersorg
Borknagar
Nile
Lykathea Aflame (a bit like Cryptopsy with egyptian/eastern melodic influences)

I've got lots more, I'll post another list when I get home. Happy listening!

First of all all thos bands you listed are trash, evanescence especially.

get some Dimmu Borgir, Behemoth, Cryptopsy, The Berzerker,Candiria, Atomship The Black Dahlia Murder, As I Lay Dying, Slavemachine, The Butterfly Effect, Burzum, The Agony Scene, Amon Amarth, Soilwork, Motorhead, Megadeth, Through The Eyes of The Dead, Morbid Angel, Bathory, Clawfinger, Borknagar, Dark Funeral, Deicide, Vomitory, Dying Fetus, Tristania, and Mastadon to start off with.

After Forever, Inkubus Sukkubus, Lacuna Coil, On Thorns I Lay, Within Temptation, Switchblade Symphony, Theatre of Tragedy, Xandria, Leave's Eyes, and Epica are bands evanescence wishes they were half as good as.

Stabbing Westward is a band you'll like if you like NiN, basically what happened is NiN was more marketable so noone focused on SW at the time now their **** gets played on the radio and everyone thinks it's new.

umm...

damageplan
lacuna coil i like them way better than evanescense
system of a down-toxicty my fav album also
pantera

and even tho they are not heavy i am really feelin dragonforce right now.

its funny bein the only dude in the hood that listens to rock i still get respect tho hahaha.
