What up guyz, I need ya help on this one...

I know that I'm gonna get one of these 3 keyboards

1. Roland Fantom Xa
2. Yamaha MO6
3. MM6

I've been in GuitarCenter for hours and hours just going to work on the Fantom and Yamaha MO6. Out of the two I spent the most time on the MO6. It's very user friendly and I like the sounds...whereas the Fantom has a **** load of sounds and is user friendly as well.

I've only been making music for about 9 months, so some of you workstation gurus help me out...

I produce hip-hop & R&B music...so my question is which is better suited for my genre of music.

Go with the MM6 if you are low on cash and have a sequencer already
Go with the Fantom Xa if you've got money in the bank, cuz it has a nice sequencer

I like the Fantom because its got pads, and the Mo6 is a bit more expensive

i got to sit and play with the above aside the mm6... and to me the roland Juno G is the best of the budget boards, so in this case i'd say fantom xa

dont sleep on the alesis fusion either...!

Thankz

Here is a review on the Xa.
I want a fantom x series also, i think i might go for the x6 if i can rack in enough dead presidents over the summer.

Its very helpful, the xa comes with software so you can hook it up to your computer. The software is similar to the os on the fantom x6,x7,x8 etc.

Roland have taken the rather tasty Fantom X6, and removed all the bits that gave it an edge in a highly competitive marketplace. Gone is the very playable keyboard, to be replaced by something that lacks aftertouch and does not permit the highest standards of keyboard playing. Gone are the touch-sensitive pads, to be replaced by mere switches. Gone is the large, colour LCD that make editing so simple and such fun, to be replaced by a monochrome screen. And gone is the huge ROM that made the other Fantom Xs special, to be replaced with the sound engine of the previous generation of Fantoms.

This says it the best. But i still think if you dont want to buy an X6 that this would be the way to go for the price

i've had the MO6 for a bit and i love it. it's incredible. the only things I feel I gave up were a sampler and pads, but since I plan to buy an MPC in the future I'm not worried about that.

Sit and play each one to see which sounds better to you. Me personally, I like the sound of the MO better. Also, if you're looking at the fantoms I would at least look at the X6. I wouldn't get the XA but that's just me.

I know you're looking for opinions and reviews and such but you have to go by what's best for you. It's great to see what others think and have but when it comes down to it, you are the one making the music. Plus, you can easily get misled by people and be swayed by people who aren't s knowledgeable. Take your time and make the best decision for you.

i liked the MO when i played it, gotta love those ES sounds... but the keybed was terrible on the MO6, turned me off to it right away. but if your just starting out, probably wont make much of a difference... im just in the market for a decent workstation to serve as my master controller for some time to come as well, so keybed is important to me

Fantom has better synth sounds whereas the Mo's have better natural sounds
