I dont know how or why but a while ago I could just drag and drop a video file into a cubase project and it would load in as audio. However, I cant seem to be able to do this anymore and I dont know why.

Anyone know how to extract the audio from video? I dont have to do it in cubase. I also have reason.

Any advice??

I always convert audio from YouTube to mp3 by googling YouTube to mp3 and it's like the first link I'll post a link for you when I get home

use audacity?

get a cable that goes from your line out n' plug it into your line in... hit play on your video and hit record on audacity... save as .aiff

I use listentoyoutube.com for that but I am talking about films and tv shows that I have on my hard-drive etc.

For youtube videos go to vixy.net it allows you to convert to MP3, or actually down load the video itself in a couple different versions.

Me too, when I really have to.

One of my favorite artists has literally 0 albums on torrent

So I have to individually convert every song of his I like.

I just set up the routing on my soundcard.

There is this thing called money, you obtain money by performing tasks for an employer, this is known as a job, you can then exchange your money for goods and services such as music, food and rent. :p

He's talking about Audio from a video guys, not MP3. I would never suggest using an MP3 for sampling, it's already compressed, and would get compressed even more. Wav and aiff is best for that.

LDN, I would suggest since it worked before in Cubase it can work again, check your settings in Cubase in the Preferences. I don't know Cubase that well but some how it probably closed on you.

Peace

Yeah I am gonna have to mess around with all the audio settings i think. I was just hoping that someone would be able to tell me in simple terms.

At the moment its not even for sampling purposes, I just need to extract some audio from a Dave Chappelle stand-up video that I have so I can listen to it on the way to work.

I wouldnt recommend those YouTube to MP3 programs either.. the quality is lossy and just plain ugly, audio is pre-compressed to around 48kbps, tweaking it to 320 aint going to do much either. I suggest using softwares dedicated to audio extraction http://www.addonx.com/Windows/audio-multimedia-rippers/review-Extract-Audio-Converter-924050.html As audio quality diminishes the bigger the speakers. You wouldnt want to gamble on crappy YouTube extractors and all that garbage. I learned the hard way, I played one of the said extractions in a club I used to work out, and the Subs just ate the bass of the track up. It was nasty.
