THE PRODUCERETTE
Hey fam!

Someone just gave me Edirol Orchestra, YAY! :)

But.

When I open it it will let me play the first instrument on top only, whenever I want to choose the others or play them, they are not playing, no matter what key I press, it's always the first playing, does anyone have advice?

Anyone please?

K, just searched the whole wide web I think, hahaha, I didn't know that you have to open MIDI out channels for each instrument, wow, I see now...thank you anyway ;)

ohh woops....hehe i feel like an idiot, i could have told u that, i thought you were asking something different, my bad

I got 2 questions: How do you set each instrument to a midi out? What exactlyh is a soundfont and how do I use them/install more in FL6???

hahahahaha actually how it was worded kinda made u assume Precious P did have midi outs present but somehow no notes were being played even though each midi outs were properly assigned to each channel.

Those are common questions that can be solved with a search of the site or with google.

But basically, to answer your question, when you have a mutli-timbral vst you can assign midi outs to them..... just set the port number found on the upper right corner of the Fruity wrapper and make sure that port number matches the one you assign to the midi out. Then all you do is set the channel on the midi out to the one on the vst.... so say in edirol orchestral channel 2 plays the oboe and channel 3 plays the trumpet but you only want the trumpet then you assign the midi out channel to 3. But most important is that you remember that the port number on the vst matches that on the midi out.

As for soundfonts you use a soundfont player to play them. They usually have the extension .sf2. Do a google search to find some though I don't actually use soundfonts much but I'm pretty sure the site has a lot of topics on them so search around.

i gotta question about edirol orchestra:

when i make a beat in fruity loops using edirol orchestra and then i save tha beat using an instrument like strings or a trumpet, then when i close fruity loops then open it tha next day and open tha same beat there r different instruments in edirol orchestra and there not tha instruments i picked for tha beat and it messes up tha whole beat.

ive experiemented with this problem ALOT and it still comes up wit tha default instruments.

how do i fix dat? or whatz goin on???

That's the only bad thing about Edirol Orch. , it doesn't save settings...

Yes, it does. I forgot how to save the instrument settings, though.

it does save settings,

what you have to do is, whenever your ready to save, you have to call up the plugin interface for edirol, and then go to options, in the options window find the tab that allows you to save performance.

Basically what that does is create a separate Edirol file. Everytime you open your project you have to load that file by going to options and clicking "load performance". Read its help about the what the other saving options are for. I havent messed around with it enough to find it.

I dont know why they made it like that, but another thing that I dont like is that you have 16 channels to work with, but it only gives you 4 outputs. Is everyones like that, or is it just me?

Peace!

i think its nice to capture your instrumental ideas.
it sounds very dull in mono or when you switch off the reverb and chorus.
i think you can make wicked tunes with it but when it gets seriouse i would prefer sample packs

Saving Instruments, and their settings.
  1. Click on the System button within the VST. Once you've done that, the System Setting box should appear on screen.
  2. Go to File, then select Save Performance. Save it as (Orchestral - Beat 09, or something like dat). It'll save as an .ope file.
When you open up your project, everything will still be reset back to the default instruments, but all you have to do now, is:
  1. Click on the System button within the VST. Once you've done that, the System Setting box should appear on screen.
  2. Go to File, but instead of selecting Save Performance, select Load Performance. Now, load the saved file, and everything will be just da way you left it. Thank me, fellaz!

Question.
I see when i open the orchestra channel, that their are 16 instruments. yet i only play the first instrument, which has been fine so far, but now i want to try more than one instrument at once.

I want to play all of them at once infact, can some one explain too me? "this might of been explained on page one, but i did not understand" so could some else or the same poster explain again, and in much more detail please.

Thanks.

How to use channels 2 - 16 in Edirol Orchestra
  1. Go to Channels >> Add One >> Midi Out.
  2. Now, edit the data on your Midi Out channel.
For example,
Channel: set it to 2, Port: set it to 2, but leave everything else the way it is. Now switch to the Edirol Orchestral window, and go to the top right corner. Underneath the x button, there should be a Port Section that looks like this --. Switch it to 2. This means your Midi-Out is on port 2, and you are playing channel 2 of Edirol Orchestral. If you want to use channel 3, just clone the previous midi out channel, but change the channel from 2 to channel 3. It's dat simple!
