Easy MPC 1000 Question

I had an MPC 1000 a few years ago, sold it, and bought a used one yet again because I missed the thing. Im stupid I know. But I cant not remember how to make my samples so that they are not one shot samples but I want them to stop once I hit another pad and not overlap one another. How the hell do I do this I'm having a brain fart fml
