Easy beats/songs to imitate?

hey guys, first post here. I just got into this producing thing the other day, and been reading the threads in this section for a while. i'm using fl studios 9.

How should i start off? watched some of 'nfxbeats' on youtube, helped me a little. But i still don't know where to start, can anyone recommend me some beginner beats or songs to immitate?

Also how do i imitate the songs, does fl studios already have the required sounds to do so? or would i have to download samples etc? I'm clueless.

i also don't have any MIDI equipment, is it a 'need' for me in the meantime? or can i get by?

imitating or recreating a beat can be helpful only so much. google music theory, learn the basics. Then check out www.tweakheadz.com and read "The Guide". Plenty of good info.

Haha i'm a BEAST at using the typing keys on FL studio...I went so long without a MIDI controller that the first year I spent producing I learnt some scales and knocked out chords on the typing keyboard but wished i'd just got a cheap midi controller in the first place because i'd be so much better on the keys technique wise now...so while not recommended whatsoever you can probably get by in the beginning stages yeah cuz I did....

I made a couple of beats on my youtube page just using the typing keys lol www.youtube.com/gifted1ne sometimes if im knocking out a basic idea i'll use them because now i know them note for note it's a easy way to start if i'm on the laptop somewhere..
