My boy played a sample mix for me, wit songs by popular producers and the original song they sampled.

I did not know that:

California Love
Hi My Name is
Aint Nutin But a G Thang(i found out yesterday)

Were all samples, dang Dr. Dre u were my idol. But Let Me Ride was his 1st classic!

Why not just create a thread called "Please close this thread". Would have been much simpler...

I was also suprised at just how much he sampled or interpolated when I heard that mix, to tell you the truth it was almost disheatening, but I still have untold respect for him as a producer and artist.

Yeah he is still one of my top10 producers and one of my top5 pdroducer/mc

Hi my name is like straight loop and so is california love, but kanye does the same thing so its all good

There has been a few "I'm disappointed now that I know those beats were sampled" threads. I always knew those were samples. Other times I hear an original after I've heard the track and it doesn't phase me. Hip-hop from day one was based on interpolations and interpretations.
Let Me Ride his first classic? you must be too young to remember the Cabbage Patch. Okay, that wasn't classic.

J/K LOL!

I was your age when the Chronic came out and you were just born!!! People looked at sampling differently then. Samplers had small memory and made the beat sound different. 1992-3 was a different era from now. So you've now heard the originals and listen to how he flipped it.

I heard the break to Amerie's "One Thing" yesterday.

I mean I knew it was replayed from the beginning but damn...imagine if Rich Harrison had put that shyt together on his own.

BEFORE...
"oh this dr dre is hott"

AFTER...
"oh man, hes alright now"

if he was aswome before you heard he sampled, why wouldnt he be just as good now?

In general, because you may realize he didn't do as much as to the sample as originally thought. Or you may have thought the beat was completely original.

Damn "my name is" is sampled? i didnt know that! but the track still bad!!

From Labi Siffre. The song is "I Got (The Blues)". an excellent song. Dre samples the second half of the song. The first half is sampled in Jay-Z's "Streets Is Watchin'".

Last time I remembered...Damn Zannon you beat me to it. But yeah I think there is another part in that Labi Siffre song that was used by someone else.

I think Dre was the last to use it.
