I just wanted to know if he freestyle his verses or does he write them. But if he freestyles, then how much practice will it take for me to get to this level of such greatness?

He writes...without paper. He structures his verse in his head, and then spits it. It's not hard to think of what you want to say, remember it and, then rap it..it's kinda just like remembering a song on the radio. But to get the on the Hova-level quality wise you should probably start practicing now.

Yeah. Jay never writes anything down on paper. Word has it he wrote The Blueprint in like 2 or 3 days, all in his head. And I don't even think he writes verses. I think he writes like a couple lines and then pieces them all together in the recording booth.

Watch Fade to Black the DVD. Jay-z thinks about the emotion he wants to get on the track, then he thinks of certain things he wants to say, then he puts a rough draft in his head, This is called 'headwriting' and Jay-z doesn't get the take on the first try everytime. Everyone writes in there head different, takes alot of confidence to not second guess yourself and your flow has to be damm good

It's written without the need to actually write it down. He just pieces ideas together in his head and takes it from there. A lot of MCs (including myself) do that now and then. I don't do it every time, but there are so many times when I've already pieced full verses together in my head without a need to actually write them down before recording.

He dont freestyle and he dont write. You wanna get like him over night just do like he does steal lyrics from other artists.

He writes...it's a simple method to learn and it helps your flow but most people that do it have pretty meaningless verses

I started out writin rhymes but once i mastered the head writing technique i can't do it any other way. The swag in my flow just comes out better like that b/c i'm not confined to the paper & can change lines on the fly. I typically write the hook & 1st verse in my head & get that layed down. Then the 2nd verse & so on. The hardest thing for me 2 do is when i do like a 3 min. or 4 min. "freestyle" over a mixtape track & try to remember the whole thing.

I haven't heard of that many people who do it:

Jay-Z(He got it from Biggie)
T.I.
Jadakiss
Common
Me(LOL)

I'm sure there's alot more but i just dont know they do it. It's not that hard it just takes repetition & a good memory.

A LOT more artists do it. The only reason why we only hear about these few artists is that some of them happen to really put it out there or brag about it like it's such a big deal lol.

i do it from time to time, but not alot, i also don't think it's super spectacular either. With me it's what you draw and love out of the beat, if you really love a beat and moved by it, plus you have confidence and a plan to know what you want to do, this will come to easy to do. I look at it like a rhyming speech, when you step the podium on a particular topic you love, it comes out naturally. But in the end regardless if you remember your sh!t not, it's gotta be hot in the end or your process won't really matter lol

What Jay used to do, was when he was younger, he used to walk to the grocery store, about a mile away. he would walk, and just think to himself things that would be cool to say in songs. So, he had a receipt in his pocket one day, and a pen. he took otu the receipt, and wrote the line on it. He then kept pieces of paper in his pockets. He kept writing and writing until his pockets were full. He eventually trained himself to memorize his lines

i don't know about yall, but often i need a spark. I ain't a 100% and not on the level jay-z is doing it on. When i say i need a spark, i mean a line, because i'd repeat lines so many times in my head i'd memorize them, but i could never forget how they started. So i'd jot just a line or 2 lines down to get myself goin, and the rest would flow naturally. I actually get migraines and have seen a doctor about this and as long as i'm rhyming it won't stop, i've been having them since 13, but they were about thoughts and video game maps/area before, now i apply that same gift and curse to my rhymes from time to time. It's wack having migraines though because i often lose a whole day. I work 8 hours and then have a migraine where i have to sleep soon as i get home all the way to the next morning.

Yeah Homie I Heard Gay Z Uses His Blueberry Phone to write hi s**** Down! he has to write sumtimes dont you think?

jay doesnt use anything accept his mind. he doesnt write, he writes in his brain. people think its a freestyle because he doesnt write it down on paper, but its not because its a pre thought verse. he put it together, took parts out, memorized it, thought of the flow, memorized it some more and then goes in and records it

Jay doesn't have 2 right. He wrote when he was younger but i doubt he still does. I never write when i'm rappin neither. I used 2 but found that if i right it down it doesn't flow right b/c i feel confined 2 the beat. It really doesn't matter though long as your end result is hot you could be writin w/ a crayon who cares???

Top 4 Rappers:

Jay-Z (Doesn't Write)
2-Pac (Wrote Everything)
Biggie (Didn't Write)
Nas (Writes)

U C it doesn't matter.
