curious as to how many people still use gig files? i have a ton from back in the day and i was thinking of getting rid of them.

Do you think it would be worth the time to convert them in chicken or Kontakt?

Back then, they were one of the only ones doing huge sample libraries that are still large for today's standard. I'm not too familiar with the format. Mainly, I remember that just about any large sample library came up, it was a gigastudio thing. Quality is quality. If you feel they are still good, I don't see why not convert them.

i use alot of them!! with Halion 3....works like a charm IMO.... but that was bout 2 years ago cause my 2nd External Broke on me with everything saved in it. its basically a pack of patches in wav already map out in a single file.........honestly I love it!! i use FL studio but mostly Reason ...but if i had to use it again, i will once i get another external Hd to save the gig

kontakt should be just like halion 3 when it comes to gig files... . infact, you can input the gig in it, and then it can convert it for you per patch of the gig.... gig is multiples of patches!!!

as far as quility i use it in FL studio (engine is clean) and some of the gig files are 16-24bit so honestly i think its a win win in my opinion.....i was happy just VSTI slow up my Computer reason why i went to reason...if i could i would convert the sounds and map them in the NNXT sampler all day!

yeah the gigs brings back memories. i used to use GigaStudio back in the day. i have some dope libraries like Sonic Implants Afro Cuban Percussion and Silk Road Middle Eastern Instruments. I even have the old school vienna symphonic library in gig format.

i guess one of the days, i'll convert them and delete the ones that have overlap with some of my newer stuff.
