No, They don't..... but, as Angelic said, you really don't need BPM.

C'mon guys, maybe he needs BPM counters for something other than mixing... please don't get me wrong, just my HO but even if so I don't think we should dictate what one needs or not.;)

well, he seem like a newbie (am i right?)
and it would be better for him to invest on a good mixer without BPM rather than on a nice/so-so mixer with BPM...
he would benefit much more going with the first option...
the way i see it, BPM is only good for effect syncing, MIDI clock signal, etc...

Hey Angelic Deejay! You are right, I am a newbie and I will take your advice...

Can you recommend a good mixer to start with, under $250 would be ideal!

Also, I was going to start with the CDJ-100's, but the upcoming CMX-3000 looks ultra-cool , and dont know if I should wait for it or just start with the CDJ-100 for now??

Thanks for your help!

Don't get a CDJ... get a turntable... just trust me on this ;)

Get what you want. I have a Denon 2100F cd unit and I absolutely love it. It can do alot of things which are simply not possible with wax. Another advantage is the fact that I can find trance and techno music easier on cd, and I can burn internet music onto cd and create my own compilations. This saves me much $moola$ which can then be used to buy more equipment. Cd's are also much lighter and it's easier to carry your set into the club in 3 neat portfolios. You don't have to lug those blasted heavy crates around. In addition, if you are wanting BPM display to help with your mixing, it often has the opposite effect. I've used Traktor and it has a BPM but sometimes it simply gets it wrong. Your eyes can decive you Skywalker. You must learn not to trust them. Start by training your ears to mix and your skills will develope quicker.;)

and yes, WAIT FOR THE CMX-3K, on paper it is mmmuuucchh better than the CDJ-100
so wait and see who u like better, CMX-3K sure gives u a lot more (loops, 3 hot starts, finer picth adj., scratch, and the list continues...)

the behringer 500 looks awesome for the $$$!!

BPM counters work within their own limits and work best with music like HOuse, Techno. If you spin Drum and Bass and want to use those BPM counters you will get some strange reading. If you defenitly must have a BPM counter, I think you can find the most accurate one's in the Pioneer mixers. Still the best BPM counters are your ears. If you only thrust the beat counters you will probably produce some crappy mixes. Because; in most cases you also have to pitchbend to
beatmatch the songs exactly. Still BPM counters may be helpful when starting out.
