DJ Toomp Explains How To Get Away w/ "Sampling"

That's how Maybach Music 1 got made
I think Toomp was referring to "heavy" interpolation. Listen to the beat he did for T.I. or Kanye's. I think MM1 was sampled completely.. I'm not sure though... Will someone clear this up?

or you could just steal the groove/instrumentation and not even get involved with an interpolation.

based on Maybach Music 1 since we're talking about it. outro @ 3:36.

I've noticed in interviews (On Here) Hip Hop producers laying it down and demonstrating some great qualities - brutal honesty, candour, positivity, generosity - many openly share their varied experiences, personal opinions and sound advice - as producers and the roles they've played within the industry, these guys are a credit to the music community, take heed of such valuable advice it transcends all genres and absolutely all kinds of production within the MUSIC industry.

You can always dig for midi files of tracks as well :D.

^^ Man I know a lot of producers who just go to a MIDI archive like VGMusic and take Final Fantasy songs, edit a few notes, replace a few instruments and call it a wrap.

but actually just "sampling sampling"? like chopping records? I don't know how to do that. I really don't. wouldn't know where to begin.

And there's one more guy doing it now *this guy* lol

It's almost scary how similar Chris and Jay sound lol

Toomp looks like Troup lol

informative post, especially for me as a producer and a rapper who doesn't always necessarily have time to create a beat completely from scratch!

any vids of people interpolating?

Not sure if this helps

Dr Dre Samples and Interpolations - YouTube

The Neptunes interpolated frequently.

http://theneptunes.org/justin-timberlake’s-‘nothin-else’-interpolation/

These arent the greatest examples of actual interpolation but the the neptune catalog is full of them. Dre seems more like straight up samples but for some reason the person who made the video labeled them as interpolations also. Not to make this a sample thread but the following video suprised me. I never knew Timbaland sampled:

I never knew that the melody from the Allayiah song with the baby cry is a sample by The Meters and that the great Timothy Mosely was digging in them crates.(lol)

Don't pay for Sample Clearances:
