Think, "what do i really need?". Not, "what is free? oh that's what i need! something free!". Don't trust the salesmen at guitar center either. They all point everybody to cd turntables. The real stuff is right there in front of you if you look. But they're being fed bs about cd turntables and software. Don't be strictly digital. There's a reason why serato isn't free and a reason why vinyl has been in the spotlight.

i use VDJ with numark mixtrack pro. pretty easy to use as this is my first piece dj gear.

serato is free but you need to have a controller or turntables to really take advantage of it. You can also try Mixxx that's free and pretty good. http://www.mixxx.org/

Has to be Traktor I use Traktor Scratch Pro with a Pioneer DDJ Ergo wouldn't have anything else
