DJ shadow drums - curious question

yeah different strokes, endtroducing had all the progressions and compositional elements but just cos its technically well put 2gether and complexed dont mean its a dope listen.

**** was so downtempo it just had no energy no nod-factor, like when u listen to beat by Pete Rock (true master, half man half amazin) or premo (boom) **** just sounds live hig energy when u hear it u just start bopping.

shadow makes **** for white boys with skatebords so it is some pure backpacker ****.

It would probably be good for some background music for a program on nature, with some cliffs or some ice melting but **** aint grove enuff for heads to get in the pocket and rap to it.

What's impressive about Shadow is his knowledge of music and his fanbase is mostly white boys(skaters,hipsters,backpackers etc...)
I'm not hating on dude,I bought the full length vinyl version of Endtroducing and the Cd,I'd rather listen to a Diamond D production though.

Yeah, rapping to the Beatles is hard too so I guess they suck as well

i agree, but not shure theirs much purpose in comparing shadow to these guys. entroducing ain't rap and was never mean't to be rap'ed over as far as i know

It's the stupid alternative(white) media that pigeonhole Shadow.Endtroducing was instrumental music composed of strictly samples,but he did it with the hiphop tradition in mind.
But see,those incompetent journalists try to make him as the best thing that ever happened to hiphop...
But I have some Solesides singles and dude can make a dope hiphop beat and I'm loving that 3 freaks track,dope!!
 
shadow has some super ill beats, but i think homie far and away misses the point of the music. oh well some people just can't appreciate those types of instrumentals (i.e. trip hop/ambient) but thats cool cause i can't say i can get into country....
if you hate shadow might as well for get listenten to
rjd2, blockhead, dj cam, dj krush, dj mark farina, prefuse 73 and his many alias, ect....
 
i never said i hated dj shadow. i just said i wasn't impressed. i love rjd2 and so forth. i respect shadow. but that new stuff is sorta pop. i understand it but mabey he's trying to hit the cross over. i don't understand why people cant just do beats like the time periods of 88' to 95. the golden years. he's not large pro or diamond d or j dillla or pete rock or madlib or tip or rza or orginize noise or elp or in dre or the producers in heiroglifics. or kanye. he's shadow and thats cool but i wanna here that ish. feel me.
 
his new stuff... well i'm not gettin into that. lol... yeah it is what it is, music is all about opinion homie.
