Digidesign Mbox 2 pro USB vs. Avid Mbox 3

Mbox 3 for sure. I heard that the preamp in it is actually really great whereas the one in the Mbox 2 was kinda subpar. Plus the new one looks much better and is just a nicer unit.
 
the newer Mbox would be your best bet. With it being newer you can expect driver updates and etc in the future. Who knows when they may drop support on the older Mbox 2.

You can however come across an Mbox 2 with PT for a steal these days though.
