Yeah, Al Di Meola is nice. Latin influenced jazz-rock fusion and acoustic guitar joints.
He played in Chick Corea's Return to Forever for a few years before his first solo record.

Really love this song.

That Friday Night in San Francisco is a nice live record.

Yeah he was in Return to forever. Those guys are ill!!

And thats the first record I grabbed of his haha. Still haven't listened to the live joint yet though

Nice find gilson.

Chester Thompson´s "Powerhouse"...damn. What a nice record. Powerhouse is such a killertune. Heavy beats, a funky bass, one lush organ and raw sax power. Love it. Reminds on Rusty Bryants "Fire Eater". Played it a lot in our club in the 90s. Blackjazz always was one of my favorite independent jazz labels. Unfortunately I have only one by myself.

But I know a lot of them. Black Jazz, Strata East & Tribe Recordings ... the spiritual jazz resistance from the 70s. :)

Congrats on this find.

Thank you, it is possibly the best pull I've ever had. What an amazing record, so heavy, so on point.

What club from the 90s are you speaking of?

Me and two friends started a club night in the early 90s (maybe 1992, not sure about that) where we played jazz, funk and soul records most of the time. It was pretty successful. I left them in mid/late 90s but it´s till running over here in germany. A little bit like the Mojo Club from Hamburg.

I have the Chester Thompson track (powerhouse) somewhere on an old Yellow Productions compilation. Dope track. :)

my digs for the weekend and a classic record that after 23 years I still love. Oh and because someone had to be in the pic my minion decided to say hi/cheese

Nice! I'd love to open up something like that, or DJ at one. Too bad places like that are few and far between these days..

@ Xab What is that record with the psychedelic looking font?
Im not sure which cover you are seeing but Im thinking its Led Zeppelin 2. I got it for When The Levee Breaks its got a Dr Dre break I really like on it

X, was the kid in the dollar bin? :)

Nice finds. That Led Zep is a great album if you're a fan. I've got thad Bar-Kays and the Bob James with the lady bug as well.

I'm not a Zeppelin fan because I'm not fully aware of their discography but I like this album. The kid has been around for some time. He's been following me around calling me daddy. I keep telling him to stop but he hugs and kisses me and makes funny faces so I keep him around

Haha. I hear you.

It's got several classics. Stairway to Heaven, Rock n Roll, and Black Dog and of course the break from When the Levee Breaks.

Black dog is crazy I forgot Obie Trice used that sample one of the hottest beats of 2010

I haven't heard the Obie Trice track. I'll have to check it out.

I grew up on Led Zep. Hell of a band. Jimmy Page is a god on guitar.

I missed out on a lot of good music as a child. I wasn't allowed to listen to rock because my mom called it "white people music" when I finally got into digging and listening to rock I love classic rock. The Obie Trice song is called You Burn btw its on Youtube

Mine was the opposite. My dad had all rock, folk, and country except for one Sly and the Family Stone record. Years later I felt deprived. No funk. No soul. No jazz. No R&B. Luckily my brother got me into hip-hop at a young age.

Lol I only listened to hip hop and r&b of the day as I got older. When I was young it was all 80s rnb (this was in the 80s) I grew up on G Funk in the early 90s and with the exception of biggie and wu tang didn't mess with much eastcoast hip hop until its hard and hell is hot. I didn't hear illmatic until 2005 or Reasonable Doubt until 2003 #crazy

Dug up a bunch of stuff today for $15 bucks. This guy is trying to move a bunch of his record collection for cheap so I swept through and grabbed some stuff. Just started listening to what I got, this first record is ill. I'll post pics tomorrow.
