whats the difference between 808 and 909 drums,

plus what other types of drum sounds are out there

808 was a classic back in the days in the south matter of fact it still is!!! good clap and shakers good kicks too.

They are both great. I like to use 909 in my trance stuff. The kick, open hat, and crash of the 909 are in tons of trance songs. It really doesn't matter what kind of music you are into, they are just great machines.

If you tweak and layer an 808 and 909 bass drum together you can come with some good stuff.

Go and get a copy of John Farnham's Whispering Jack album, and have a listen to A Touch of Paradise. It really shows the 808 at its full potential.

quoted from tr-808.com:

"or the famous bass drum sound that vibrates the ground when a car playing loud rap music drives by"

that just struck me funny.
