now i know i could use asio4all but the thing with it is now it seems only one application can use it at a time since im using windows 7..so if i use it can play anything on youtube or even edit a sample outside of cubase..

anyway the prblem im having is the output latency is mad high and i've tried every which way but the sun and cant figure out a way to fix it..

like i press the play and turn on the metronome. . it wouldnt start beeping until the scrolling line reaches the 4 bar line and as such everything starts recording at that time...its annoying.

anyone use tascam product and cubase. i swear i hate tascam..for some reason i keep going back to their product..i had the us -122 version for a while and had all sorts of problems with latency.and its not even like my laptop is that bad(4gb ram relatively new hp pav dv7)....now the 144 version..

I'm using the US-144 with Cubase 5 and whilst I had these same issues when first installing Cubase, I fixed them up pretty quick. My suggestion for you is to install ASIO4ALL. It's well worth it. If you want to use youtube or whatever while in Cubase, then let youtube play through your PC speakers.

Have you checked the clock settings, and the latency settings? Also make sure to get the latest firmware or rather, drivers. I must admit, the TASCAM website is hopeless, as is the onine support, but once you get the device up and running, you can really record some good quality stuff.

I wish I was at home right now so that I could step through my settings with you and check yours. I'll have a look when I get back home in a few hours.

In the meantime feel free to PM me. I know how it feels to not find these answers!

Peace,

You know I think its pretty cool how you are so helpful to other users, Aeternitas. ++respect

ASIO4ALL is great for what you're using. Typically ASIO will only work with one device at a time. If you want to switch between programs that use the WDM drivers and Asio, you'll usually have to disable the asio quickly, then switch back.

Yo thanks DJ 5ive, just trying to help where I can. Plus i'm trying to keep myself looking occupied while in the office hahah.

Xendroster, unless you want to have massive latency issues, stop procrastinating and get ASIO4ALL. After this, when you get into Cubase next (i'm using Cubase 5, so it may be a little different if you are not) go to the menu and choose:

Devices>Device Setup

In the Devices tree on the left, you should see something that says 'VST Audio System'. Click on this and on the right hand side of the window make sure the Tascam drivers are chosen in the 'ASIO Driver' drop down box.

You'll need to set the latency as low as possible, and to do this click on the Tascam device in the Devices tree on the left of the window (mine says US-122 MKII / US-144 MK II). Once you've done this, click on the Control Panel button in the right hand pane. This should bring up the Tascam control panel. Set the Audio Performance to 'lowest latency', the Sample Clock Source to 'automatic' and leave the Digital Output Format as is, which should be 'S/PDIF'.

To be honest, if the above process doesn't fix much, i'd start thinking about upgrading the computer, because I can't see any other reason why you should be experiencing the issue.

Hope that helps dude. Let me know how you go.
