I got into Cormega's music real hard a few years ago, even bought his Documentary DVD when it came out and Born & Raised two years ago. What I appreciate about his music is his attention to to detail in his lyrics and his impeccable ear for production. His subject matter is limited, but he makes up for it with raw passion, honesty, introspection and thoughtfulness.
I read an interview with 'Mega where he talked about the production on Born & Raised, this song in particular. He said him and Fizzy Womack found this sax player busking out in the street and brought him in to play over the beat. No samples, just Fizzy and the sax man. My favorite song on the album.
