i have reason, but i'm much more comfortable with fruityloops...does anyone know of any software that will convert soundbanks into useable audio formats...even sound fonts.

there has to be a way...if you can convert your sounds to reason soundbanks then there's gotta be a way to do the opposite

Hey Nitwit!

The Reason soundbanks use the Propellerhead's 'ReFill' format; this isn't an audio format, it's more like the way you can bundle up a bunch of files & their directory structures into a single ZIP file. This lets them pack patches & samples & redrum kits etc all into a single package.

As far as I know, there is no simple, convenient way to remove the contents of a refill.

The best option you have is to load the samples you want into a Reason sampler one at a time, set up an event to trigger it and export it out to whatever audio format you want.

It's irritating but it should at least get you what you want.

Hope this helps!

I believe there is also a way to export refill sounds in .wav format. It is not an easy process because you can only do one at a time but it is allowed and I think the option is under the file menu.

I am at work and will check it out when I get home later.

The RFL files are prolly nuthing but a .DAT file renamed to a .rfl file..hmmmmm.....interesting thought...

Cus All the popular Soft synths use .DAT files...

ReFills have heirarchical folder structures inside them, so I think they're slightly more than a .DAT file. It's a proprietary format intended to keep the files inside; it wouldn't surprise me if it encrypted or compressed them on creation.

The lack of 3rd party ReFill unpackers is another reason I think there's no easy solution :)

the easy way would be to use reason

Yup.lol

The guy who decodes this RFL code is gonna make hella cash if he comes up with a program that is able to extract the Reason soundbank....Hmmmm... you could reverse engineer the refil Packer..:D
