Controller question

Can I use my Yamaha YPT-230 keyboard as a controller for VST? It has a midi port but could that be just for the keyboard itself? Not VST?
 
I'm pretty sure that if it has midi port then you can use it with your computer and vst. You will just need adaptor or interface.
