Hie guyz,

Im planning to connect a Yamaha Djx keyboard to my PC.

I've never done that b4. ive read a few forums n sites regarding the installation.

Most of them said i have to look in the device manager and find SB MIDI.
i have a sblive value!. But i cant find any SB MIDI in the device manager. i only see
SB Live series (WDM)
SB Live gameport

ive got the latest XP drivers from the creative website. but its still the same.

I'm waiting for my midi cable to come. so b4 that im doing a lil home work.
so if any of u could assist me as to how to go about the installation.

Thx.

No need to look at the device manager.

I assume you are waiting for a joystick port to midi adaptor. It's pretty much djx midi out to "in" cable and "out" cable to midi in of djx. Then select mpu 401 in your application and you're set.

thx mate.

i also wanted to know which software or sequencer i can install to work further on the keyboard with my comp.

Thx

There's a lot out there depending on what you need. There's FL studio, Reason, Cubase, Sonar, Logic Audio, Digital Performer, Project 5, etc...

That's if you wanted a sequencer.

Other than that, many vsti's work in standalone mode in which you can play them as if they were single instruments. It depends on what your interests are though.

i finally got my midi interface cable.

I tried using FL studio 4.
It works.. i mean when i play the keys on the keyboard its linked with the paino roll.

but i cant record from the midi. if i play a peice on the keybard it shows the recorded waves in FL. but its not playing it back

IM VERY CONFUSED ABOUT CHOOSING THE MIDI DEVICE.

In my windows Sound and audio devices :-

1.Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth
2.Soundmax Wavetable Synth (inbuilt sound card)
3. A: Sblive Midi Synth
4. B: Sblive Midi Synth
5. C: Sblive Midi UART

Microsoft Midi Mapper
These are the only options i get while choosing Output Mapping , Master sync output , Remote control input.

Im really very confused abt what to choose for what.

if any of u could help.

thx

What up,

I got a DJX-II also but i can't get it to work with my reason program. I got everything hooked up midi cables and everthing. When i press a key aint sh!t happen. In Preferences->MIDI there is only one port so i know i put that in wrong. Is there a certain channel i have to have it in. I also tried pressing the "MIDI BULK SEND" button but it still dont work. can someone help me.

Read this and the site in general:

Do you understand why you hear nothing? Midi contains no actual audio data. Load up simsynth and experiment with that. In order for midi notes to output audio it needs to tell something to create certain notes.

You might have the cables switched around. The cable that says "in" should be connected to the port that says "out" on the keyboard. You read the above link too.

Edit: Made a mess of the double quote.:D

My cables were switched around thanks but im still not gettin any sound out. i think i need more of a step-by-step instruction. how do i even know if the computer is recieving tha midi data. thanks again.

What is the name of the reason input midi port that you have available?

ok, now i'm gonna sound liek a real idiot but wtf is a reason module?

well that site has a lot abt general information as to how everything works.

i was confused between the choices of Midi output , input and master sync.

if u read my post it simply relates as to what i have to choose.

the site doesnt get deeper! its a nice informative site for newbies.

neway.. im looking out for my answer!

i figured somethings out on my own..

now i can hear the keyboard sound in my master.

neway but there is some kind of delay when i play the keyboard and take its out on the master.

i was using FL studio.

Architect read your manual and dj lower your buffer size in the FL audio preferences.

Edit: Spelling

sleepy my buffer size is very low now ,
but still i get the delay.

in FL Studio 4 ive kept the buffer - 13ms

and in FL 3 the buffer is 32ms.

there is a very mild delay now..

and in albeton live its the default buffer

so shud i download the ASI4ALL is it safe.

im on testing period now. i wanna be set with my settings soon. so im tryin out various things.

just in case my computer configration

P4 2.4 Ghz
512 MB RAM
Creative SB live! 5.1 sound card.
