I'm right behind you!
I'm looking for that classic Deadmau5/Progressive House/Soft Electro House synth. Is there a free alternative? Something that's similar and can be tweaked well?

For example, something that's used in - Not Exactly, Faxing Berlin, Arguru... Maybe, if you guys know of any, a free Rhodes Piano plugin (like the one used in Pjanoo?)...

Right, it has to be for Mac (preferably .vst).

um what DAW are you using to make music man
because im not really sure of any free ones if you are using ableton then in know that the operator synth can be modified to get that sound
or you can save and get arturia minimoog v or refx vanguard those are two i use alot and i recently got image line sawer, but im a pc user though all of the above come in a vst format
check out my beats some time to see if they have the right sound
that you are looking for
http://soundclick.com/djekco

Using Ableton Live 8. I like any EDM (Besides trance/hard dance).

yea then i would go with something from refx
vanguard costs 349.00
also deadmau5 released a fx pack i cant remember what it was called
but its supposed to have some nice sounds in it
also tone2 gladiator is compatible with macs
and deadmau5 uses arturia products the minimoog is 249

any virtual analog synth should work fine. A couple of detuned saws....good sidechain to get that pumping feeling.

vanguard isnt right, too cold and digital.

Perhaps try NI pro 53?

z3ta is a free vst you can use
you can download it for free
and all you need to do is get in the vst and go to bank c and find chords of life. it works fine for me.

or just use any synth that has a nice calm tone that sounds like a string.
then just move the cut off up and down and use sidechaining

Check 4Front stuff, FineLine, Soundberg, and the MDA stuff.

I have the Deadmau5 xfer pack, willin' to give it to ya if you shoot me a PM.

Deadmau5 has some beefy kicks. I'd be curious to see how he gives them the punch that he does. They're always mixed just right.

As far as synths go, I'm running both Vanguard and Sylenth1 and they do the trick for big basses. I actually prefer Vanguard for bass sounds, but maybe it's just me. I'd be interested in investing in the fxpansion D.Cam synth squad. Joel said that he actually used the Strobe synth from that package on Strobe. Can't go wrong there.

Should be good to go.

hello,

I dunno so much Deadmau5, but some of my friends, dj and …

are really fan of that guy. He works with Logic ? And does he use

some vst like korg legacy ?

Cheers brian

From what I understand, he used to use software and vsts, but recently has switched it up to analog synths and such. I have seen pictures of some of his equipment and it is kind of outrageous. Huuuuuge analog joints with wires going every which way.

his favourite vst is 'dcam: synth squad' and he uses that for most of his productions. he once said in a interview that he didnt want that synth to be released so he could keep the sound to himself ;D
