Clap-snare like in "In da club" and so on...

Does anyone know how to design your own "clap-snare" (I don't know what it's really called!) like the one in for example "In da club" or "satisfaction" by Eve --- ???

I am sick and tired of trying on my own, without any useable samples, so I'd be glad if someone could help me out!

It's actually pretty easy. Just find a snare that has some bite to it at the start of the sample, and layer it on top of a clap. You'll probably need to filter one or maybe even both of the samples to get your desired sound.
 
Thank you for your quick respond - but I don't think we're talking about the same sound.

Try to listen to the snare in IN DA CLUB -that's the sound I'm talking about.

It's sounds like a some kind of multiclap...
 
Yeah, I hate that song, so I'm not gonna listen to it right now.

But I can almost guarantee you that it just a combination of different snares and claps with some filters.

Just mess around combining some different snares and claps together and if need be play with the "frequency cut-off" function of the snare and I think you'll come up with something usable.
 
try to layer a snare and a clap like dude said, and then throw a slight pre-delay on the clap, and turn up the low end on them and experiment with that.
 
I hate to add on to what the other guys said, but yeah....I believe layering a snare and a clap would to the trick. Tweak the **** out of it....or just sample it directly from the song itself and try to edit any background sound out of it.
 
I finally got around to listening to In Da Club again, and I think the "multi-clap" thing you're referring to is a slight delay/echo used on the snare/clap sound. +48 hit it right on the nose. I didn't think about that before when I replied. It sounds almost like there's 2 claps in there, but its just the delay.

But back on thread, just download the instrumental. It got open drums like every 8 bars (if i count right)
 
I actually found the snare from In Da Club in a kit a bought.

Guess I know where Dre gets his drums. lol

^^^lol, it wasn't a "In da club" kit or "Dre Dre Kit" either.

It was a kit from Sounds in HD.
