Can I use mpd 24 for extra pads on and MPC?

I gotta mpd 24 right now and I think I might wanna get a Mpc 500 cuz there so portable, but the fact that they only have 12 pads really sucks.. can I hook my 24 up and use that too have extra pads?

Never used an MPC500 extensively, and not sure if it will allow you to program more than 48 sounds (to pads), as LogicalReasons45 mentioned. But, in the event that it doesn't, unless you're planning on having more than 48 chop or sounds, you can just program the MPC's pads to correspond with the MPD's and play through the MPC. BUT, you cannot use the MPD without a power supply, either an AC adapter or through USB, so this would not work portably.
