Best Rap album Ever? And what did the producers use to make it?

gritty

I'm not gonna say the Neptunes are wack, I mean I hate them, but who am I to call someone wack? My ish is like Primo, D R Period, Havoc, Rza, I like that East Coast grimy ish. That's the only ish I make. I could easily pick up a Triton, hit a coupla off note keys, and throw some of the Triton drums in there, but how boring is that? Gimme an MPC, and the grimy sound anyday.

I don’t know about all time best, but I’d have to say my favorite album would be, Da Shinin by Smif N Wessun…Followed by Enta Da Stage, Black moon…. I think Evil Dee still uses a SP 1200.:D

i was just about to bring up the mpc in relation to the triton.
i don't use an mpc and i have no desire to use it for production but i do understand what a big role it plays in hip-hop.

one way i would use it is in live situations. I just saw the dopest show with Zion I. Amp Live played 80% of the beats on the mpc and the set flowed together flawlessly. i always told myself that if i do live shows i have to actually put on a show and not just do the emcees yelling over dats thing. one idea was to get stuff put on vinyl and mix/blend each track together. now after that zion i show i'm down to bang out at least the drum tracks of each song live and guide the tempo and flow like that

jel from anticon uses a SP1200 to make beats live for a lot of shows...

i would love to see that ish live....
but i live in montana :D
