yo im workin wit some stock stanton cartridges right now and there cool but im sure theres some better ones out there to help boost the clarity and sound. when i was at dj babu's studio he used some cartridge that was amazing cuz hed put a record on his table and u cudnt even hear any static! (well unfortunately he scratches off the name of the needle so i cudnt see wut it was)

jus wonderin wut i shud get or look at?

Shure M44-7's or Ortofon Nightclubs. I'd got with the Shure's.

those are dj needles. i think he meant more hifi-type of needles.

Well the Shure's are "DJ" needles just because they have super-low almost non-existent record wear. So scracthing doesn't hurt the record at all with that needle. That, plus the fact the bass is fat with 'em is why I like 'em. I prefer these all around.

..but the Ortofon Night Clubs are quite hi-fi, and at $165 a set they should be. Now of course, there are $4000 German record players, and boutique needles that go with them, but in the down to earth world, those yellow Ortofon Night Clubs are serious hi-fi. DJ Shadow uses them to sample, and thinsk they give a more even sound (which they do) than the Shure's. But the Shure's sound good bumping music with the extra bass response, and scratching with no record wear, so it's a trade-off.

Yup...

As mentioned already, I too recommend the Ortofon Nightclub joints...the ones with the flourescent yellow or green tips/stylus. Basically great overall frequency range/response. Always keep an extra stylus for sampling though if you go that route.

depends on how much you want to spend. Ive seen diamond tipped needles go for 2 to 3gs that sound amazing. for something affordable Id say try the shure white label needle. most of the needles u will find that are affordable are going to be more dj oriented but look at all the specs. Shure is even nice enough to put a chart on the box so you know what you are getting yourself into with that needle

well im lookin at below 150. its aint worth no 3 g's for some needles. but i am lookin for a bit better quality than the stock needles i got. but ill check out the shure ones. i jus dont wanna go to a guitar center and have em recommend me some needles that cost me 200 n they arent as good as somethin i cudve gotten that costs 100

I've been recommended the white label by a lot of djs who produce they say the sound is superior to a lot of dj needles I don't own it myself they go for $110

Shure M-447'z all day long, I also have the Ortofon yellow tip (night club) joint'z and even though they cost more than the Shure joint'z they get lil to no use. Shure makes the BEST needle for the $$$ hands down and I use these of course for spin'n but also use it for sampling and actually prefer them over the Ortofon'z.
