WOW... I just looked at one from samash... they look awesome! From the specs of it, it looks like some competition for mackies onyx with firewire.. except at a descent price - it would be nice if it doubled as a controller as well. I think it might go on my gearlist, I'm gonna go to my shop and check one out. Thanks! I try not to look at too much gear, every time I do I end up spending money I don't have, but these look really good...

What does the firewire do? Is it a firewire audio interface or a mixer? What's a good mixer to get to replace my Behringer UB2442FX-PRO?

Its both. Its a mixer with firewire connection to your pc. You can stream each channel for recording directly to your pc. Firewire is like usb but a lot faster and a lot more dependable. The mixer I'm looking at to replace my behringer (ub1624fx-pro) is the alesis multimix 16 w/ firewire. It also comes with cubase le for those interested. Check it out a zzounds.com

LOL, yeah dude, I know what firewire is. I was asking how it's used in a mixer. If my understanding is correct, you no longer need a sound card if you have one of those firewire mixers, right? So it's not really a mixer, but more of an audio interface.

I already have a good sound card (Delta 1010) so I don't need one of those. I do need a mixer to connect to my sound card though. I'll go check out the A;esis ones right now... Has anyone used one of those Alesis ones before? I want something quiet. No more Behringer noise. And somehting that will last for several years too...

EDIT: I just realized that Alesis mixer has firewire too. So it won't work for me. I don't need my mixer connecting to the computer thru firewire. I would prefer analog outs to the sound card inputs.
