Audio Interfaces

Hello,


I have been making beats for about a month now and I have been told that I need to get an audio interface. However, I don't know what these do. I want to know if its worth it etc. I've been using fl studio but with my next check I'll be getting a Maschine mk2 a yamaha mx49 along with M Audio studiophile monitors and a Yamaha mx49. If I'm convinced to get an audio interface I would like it to be under $250 but it must fulfill all my needs. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Audio interface should be the first thing on your mind. You won't be able to listen to your monitors without one. Since you just making beats, I say go with the Mackie Blackjack (make sure you upgrade the drivers as soon as you get it if you got Win7 64bit and up).

Does the interface do anything for the maschine or the keyboard? Do I need it to connect to the PC? Or is it strictly for the monitors?

Along with the last reply, how do I go about upgrading the drivers? Thanks for any help!
