So I like to figure out songs or play along with them in Reason while watching it on Youtube or playing it in Windows Media Player or iTunes.

I'm basically having the same problem as here:

You can see my post there, I used to be able to do it with XP but now I can't with Vista. I guess I could use the mbox, but it would be a pain to switch the wires back and forth cuz I dont always have the mbox at this computer. Plus I dont even know how to make the mbox play system sounds. I know there's a program for Mac that I use at the studio, it's like Digidesign Core Audio or something.

ASIO4all takes over your soundcard and can't be used with more than one.

Damn why was it working with XP then? I dont really care if my other programs cant use ASIO4ALL, I only want Reason to use ASIO4ALL and the other ones can use the default windows or whatever, as long as they can play together like they used to with XP.

Oh yeah you're right im trippin..so I definitely dont want to use the mbox for system sounds. Anyway, I was definitely using asio4all for XP with different programs at the same time. I think most were using default windows drivers and then only one program would use asio4all, usually Reason. But it wont let me do that in Vista. I unchecked "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device"

So does anyone have any ideas? I guess I could make the computer sounds go to the mbox input, then just be listening to the mix of input/output with the mbox.

Is there still no solution to this? I would really like to play while watching youtube or listening to other songs.

I have the same problem.

I'm working in reason doing a beat then i need to edit a sample. I open cool edit pro and the wav file then get a message that the soundcard is in use by another program. So i go back to reason/ preferences/audio and set the Audio card driver to no sound. Then I go back into cool edit pro. Edit the Sample. Then back into reason again set the ASIO4ALL driver to on. This messes up my workflow and I soon lose interest.

In answer to your question hiphopdj you can go to this site www .dvdvideosoft.com and download the YouTube to MP3 Converter program. This can convert youtube videos to mp3 and wav format. Then you can open the converted file in 1 of Reason's samplers.

I'm sure I didn't have this problem with XP.
