Are twitter/soundclick/soundcloud rappers/rap producers the new SPAMMERS!?

labdummy

@LabDummy
How many times has a rapper tweeted you this as well as thousands of other people?

"@[YourTwitterName] 'AlbumNameHere' COMING SOON @IAMYUNGBK5SE#HOSTED BY @[twitterName]@[twitterName]@LiveMixtapes/@Datpiff"

or

"
@[YourTwitterName] KEEP DEM PLAYS GOIN EVERYBODY SUPPORT & DOWNLOAD MY CEO [COLOR=#ffffff][FONT=Helvetica Neue...witter.com/LabDummy"][COLOR=#ffffff]@[/COLOR][YourTwitterNameAgain] KEEP DEM…"

etc. etc. etc.

or, How many times has a "producer" tweeted you this?

@[YourTwitterName] Please,take a moment and listen to this:[url] #GOODMUSIC

These are real tweetsbtwIf someone tweeted, "hey could @[YourTwitterName], been following you for a while now (or something similar) could you listen to my track/beat & tell me what you think?" Then that wouldn't be a problem because their not necessarily spamming you correct?..

Who else feels like this? -> Justice League does:

Side-note: Now obviously, not all producers/rappers do this. Some actually go out there & work hard to get noticed..

meh, at least they're usually a free follow back. to me they're no different than the social media marketers. if they get some listens in the process much power to them, even though they're acting like cøcksuckers.

Just realized there was a link to KM's soundcloud by mistake somewhere in there.. Tried to edit it out but can't

Idk, I don't really mind it. It's basically free advertising.

I do the same thing, but a much more tamed version of that, and I only do it every so often. I use Twitter strictly for business and I treat it as such.

If rappers/producers took more of this EXACT approach more people would listen to them.

Wow, Lol at the Spammer, they all gotta find a way to promote i guess....lol

I think the frustrating part is it makes everyone's promotion harder cuz we have to fight through the constant noise of shameless plugs and promotion.

The issue really is that most "Mainstream" artists take the same approach to marketing on social networks. The most savvy internet artists are usually on the outside looking in at first or defiantly independent major artists. But you look at artists like J.Cole or Nicki and they rarely show their real personality on the net. Its always just "hey check out my next hit" with some quasi cryptic clue towards there next release.

These up and comers just mimic the "success" they see....

Anyone who resorts to carpet bombing the internet for attention is sending a very clear message to people that they are not worth listening to.

I actually listen to every link... :/ sold quite a few beats that way.

Not everybody is like this tho even tho I do the same great way to network with artists.

in my opinion I think: "hey if you got a minute check out my music [link] and give feedback lemme know what you think"

would be better way to engage than messaging someone with:

"CHECK OUT MY MUSIC DAWG!: [MUSICLINK] FT @TwitterRapper1 @TwitterRapper2 PROD BY @TwitterProducer Hosted by [@TwitterDJ] datpiff.com PURE FIRE" lol
