Are there any soft synths comparable to the Nord?

im new to the whole soft synth thing..i've used a few that i liked and used a few i hated. just wondering if theres any comparable to the Nord or even the Andromeda. thanks
 
Check out Discovery its the actual Nord Lead 2/ You can load patches directly.
 
yeah soundwise..and the tweak-ability ( i know its not a real word but you know what i mean. )
 
Glen mentioned Discovery. Sound is somewhat different but the red skin looks just like the Nord 2x so "tweak-ability"-wise-ish, it is the cloest you'll get. :)
 
Soundburst Northmood. It is actually all patches sampled from a Nord Modular.
 
"Sound Burst takes sound libraries into the future with Northmood: a virtual instrument without compromises." Yet it's essentially a multisample offering of a synthesizer -- I'd say that's quite a compromise :D

Sample based instruments which offer synth sounds can sound great and have their place, yes, but I think you unavoidably lose so much of the functionality of an actual synthesizer it's a bit misleading to call it a "virtual instrument without compromises."
 
discovery is a good option but check out Synth 1 vst. its freeware and makes FAT leads. check dezma.be to download it

I definitely agree with that. Since I actually have Nord Modular (G1), there are so many things that you can do to sounds that you won't be able to do to samples. But just sampling all of its factory presets is really not doing the machine justice. If there was one machine that you really should make your own sounds on, it's the Nord Modular. I mean, even sampling, there are so many sounds that you can find or build that just can't be sampled, since they change basically forever. I really can't recommend something that uses samples of the Nord Modular, since so many of its interesting sounds (not just synth bass, leads and basic pads) just can't be sampeld accurately, considering the fact that they use modules that just don't play the same thing over and over.
