I made this Trap Beat in Fl Studio:

I used what Fl Studio calls the arabic scale. Spelled low to high in the key of E:

E F G# A B C D#

The Chorus progression is E Maj to F Major.

Any one have any good tips for building chord progressions in this scale or other non-diatonic scales? I tried to find some chords from the diatonic western scales that would fit.

Also is it common to have diatonic harmony with a non diatonic scale? For example, your choose chords based on the prominent notes of your non diatonic melody and harmonize them as your would a normally which would cause some non scale tones to appear in the harmony.

I like the sound of this scale what musics/genres/regions use it? where can i listen to someone jam out on it?

Listening recommendations welcome! Also if I stated something incorrectly let me know too.:)

In that key with this scale, you do have quite a few chords available

E ~ E-G#-B
F ~ F-A-C
G#m ~ G#-B-D#
Am ~ A-C-E
B(b5) ~ B-D#-F
C(#5) ~ C-E-G#

The chord built above the 7th degree of the scale is not a triad, as the 3 is a diminished 3rd (as opposed to a minor or major 3rd)

notice how each 2 chords above are a semitone apart: one of the key movements in this scale is the that of bII-I and the associated movements from the other chords pairs, i.e. iv-iii and bVI(#5)-V(b5)

Thanks Coach! I see a lot of half step movement in Trap so this looks cool. Will experiment.
