Besides game over. I'm really interested in flipping some game music and I would like to see how the pros work a sample from an unrelated genre/style of music.

thanks

i know it's one old ass Wu-Tang song where Rza used a street fighter sample or somethin' he wouldn't give out the name but he said it's definentaly from a video game

It's not so much a flip of a sample, but Talib Kweli uses a Pacman sound on his most recent proper album (not Liberation, the name of the album escapes me).

Cocoa Brovas - Brooklyn. They use the Mario underground music.

I vaguely remember hearing a flip of the Mortal Kombat theme-tune somewhere, but I can't be sure.

props guys :)

edit: damn super brooklyn aint really chopped, but it was dope :D

i have trouble finding the music from video games. I've wanted to sample several video game themes. Anybody know of a good site. I found a really good site a while back but they were all in midi format and couldn't be converted to wav or mp3

props to vbm for the link

One of the better video game samples I heard used on a beat you can find in a joint called "Light at the end of the tunnel" long ass name I know...but you can google it to make sure its word for word... ANyway,

Eminem and Masta ace are on it, and some other dude I forget...

The sample is from the Soul Caliber video game...**** is a fire sample tho.

I dont know who made the beat either....****, I just dont know anything. but the beat is straight.

hey man the ride by oh no on the disrupt cd is a video game sample, i hear oh no had to curb his game habit so he could have enough time to make beats haha

Cocao Brovas used another video game sample that sounded WAY better.....or maybe it wasn't them....

But anyway, I've used some ill game samples in my day...but i aint giving those up. At least 10...and VERY obscure, not just typical themes.

I do believe the Icebox song (Omarion) uses a sample from Zelda...i think Ocarina of Time.

And the Mortal Kombat song you're vaguely recalling was used by Just Blaze....the thing about it is, he had the main score replayed a little different and with a different sound, but its definitely ripped from the MK theme. I have the exact song in my head but I can't remember the name or who specifically was on it. It's a pretty fast paced joint though.

lil flip had a song with a pacman sample on it back in 03 or 04 and got sued by namco for not clearing the samples.

i know this is very random

but just about EVERY "playstation" game, has the soundtrack already on it. Like, i remember playing pac-man world, and putting it in my cd player and i had like 18 tracks, i was rapping to one of them one day. I don think the playstation 2 games or 3 games do that. Either way.....i know that Swizz Beatz didnt give credit but the "Get It On the Floor" he did for DMX was an interopilation of a level on "Ninja Gaiden" <<<check spelling. But this was the VERY original ninja gaiden he got from, played the game one day back in like 04 and heard it. Either way, i sample quite a bit from games. The tend to have very triumphant tracks and sounds

Thanks for the site i could get mad beats of these songs but its bad because they didnt have any street fighter

That was more than likely vgmusic.com

Also not really a beat but Aphex Twin - Power Pill is a classic.
