I have so many ideas for songs and I'll start something and I know how I want it to go but, I won't know how to do something that I picture in my head or it won't sound the way I want it to. Anyone else?
It's like trying to describe to somebody what you want your next track to sound like. It's the same with writing I think, I mean you have a general idea in your head and you just try to sculpt away until it's as close to your original idea as possible, and can always refine
The more diverse your skill set the easier it is to get your ideas to translate to sounds. As for things not sounding how you pictured, being skilled at sound design helps quite a bit.
