would you say that rich harrison and amerie made gogo music mainstrean?
or do you think that they have took influences of gogo music and created a sub genre of their own style?

they sampled gogo music and made an rnb beat with it, nothing more.
 
I think Rich took elements of go-go to make his own style with it. I definetly don't think go-go is mainstream. Even after the success they had with 1 thing. I really love go-go music, but I know alot more people don't like it or even know what it is. I just made a go-go beat this weekend that is alright. I really want to get a nice M.C. to spit on the beat. I think that would definetly take go-go to another level. If a credible M.C. would spit over a go-go beat.

Being that Rich Harrioson who by the way has been in the game since wayyy back in the days under the name Rich Nice, actually is from the DC area, Go-Go may infact influence him to some degree. The Meters aren't a go-go band by the way. The Meters is a band that was formed entirely of musicians from New Orleans, including Aaron Neville and a few of his brothers. I would even go a little further and say that go-go music was influence by the Meters!! But Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers prolly had more of an influence on Rich Harrioson than this one Meters sample.

You guys are diggin too deep into this . . . He found a sample that he wanted to represent his new sound and went with it..im sure he wasnt sittin around for days thinkin hmmm . ..lets bring out go go style!! . . . . .the term go go prolly never even crossed his mind

Think E.U. "Doing The Butt" or Chuck Brown's "RUN JOE". Those the most popular one's I know of.

I have some Trouble Funk, Rare Essence, Lil Benny and the Masters, Chuck Brown.... oh and I think Timbaland had a song about Sardines and Pork n' Beans which is a go go song by The Junkyard Band...

... man that song is bangin.

Chuck Brown's version of Family Affair is bangin' too.

Growing up in the MD/ DC/ VA area, I have a hatred for Baltimore club music and the Metro area's gogo music.

james brown & his musicians had invented the funk at the same time as the meters. It's hard to say that james brown is the only one...???!!!

i don't like the song that rich harrison has realised for the "pussycat dolls" LP...it's not so good ( like the timbaland's song too...)
