now I'm thinking about these units
now when I'm mixing I want to add warmth, headroom, the good stuff

doing mostly gospel rap and some gospel bands....
so most of the instrumentals are going to be in the box appoarch.....
some live guitar and using v-drums with amazing samples

If you can get a hold of Hakim, he mentioned to me a while back that Warren Dent passed along that a pair FMR PB6A's and and an SPL stereo vitalizer MK1's(I think) can yield similar results as a fatso.

As far as tone, character pre's and EQ can provide for that. Headroom can be increased by proper gainstaging, filtering and lowering things down.
The 2-buss LT is a great choice, but the Lynx 8 is only an 8 out box, which means you'll have 8 unused outputs.

Never tried the Portico, Fatso is amazing. Def a color box, sometimes too much!!!

Matter a fact. Email me, send me a session and I'll run it thru my d-box and the UBK Fatso.

You can get one of those tape loop devices , can't remember the name , something like infinite tape .
I can have a look and find the unit name , but it is very expensive .
Heard of people using old Nagra field recorders for a similar effect , no idea how it works , might be a budget solution (they are supposed to have a very accurate run speed).

might have to grab up that Lynx Aurora 16
16-channel 24-bit/192kHz A/D D/A Converter which is $1000 more but I'll get more channels of great a/d d/a conversion.... which is never bad.....
yeah I'll look into the fasto so more.. and see if I can find some things similar in a different unit that's cheaper... time to look for mods... of units
know anybody doing mods on a unit like a cheaper-fasto like unit...
I'm really trying to stay around $2,000 on a unit like that....
oh well got to paid to play... or least have high end gear

Summing's dope, but i think a REALLY nice front end and intelligent tracking can do just as much help.

I find myself spending more time dialing everything in at the recording stage and less time messing with 2buss dynamics and EQ.
One other thing I've been messing with that I've been liking is using 2 compressors on the 2 buss.

Good luck with the purchase!

thanks kno1ills yeah.. just want to have a semi-high end recording and mixing setup... buying some mod units and finding things used..so I can purchase a couple of high high end pieces...
