Akon ripping off R. Kelly?

Its pretty obvious that in the new Akon single "dont matter" the verse part sounds identical to R. Kelly's "Ignition remix". Ever since it came out ive been kinda trying to figure out if he just flat out stole it or is it some kind of tribute to the R. Kelly song or what?
 
Akon's "rapping" sounds like R Peddy's song but its a generic melody so its OK. All Akon's melodies are pretty generic that's why they all sound like you've heard it before.
 
naa, the chords sound the same, in what bit he sings the melody exactly as R Kelly does in Ignition!!!
It's a nice song, but if you're gonna copy a song, you should make it better
Ignition [remix] is 1000000000x better
 
Actually the chord progression is from no woman no cry, the we gonna fight part of the verse is from Zimbabwe (another Marley song) and the verse does sound alot like the ignition song. But overall its a decent song for being pop r&b. Meh....

I pin-pointed the R. Kelly/Bob Marley connection pretty instantly. He can do this and get away with it because his audience probably hasn't heard either of the originals.
 
I believe it, yep. Probably a major influence on his music.
 
am I the only one who thinks akon is meh.....im happy hes gettin money but I think his stuff is meh....

Meh is the nicest way possible to describe Akon. Have you heard that song with Gwen Stefani?? MEH!

Its radio music. Smack that is good radio music the other slow stuff is "un-listenable".
 
I think he's real talented and would love to work with him.

How can you not have noticed this months ago. It's not biting, he's not trying to hide it. Ignition is a great song and he was being creative. That's what music's about.
