Ableton and Audiofire 8 Recording Distortion

Sold my Digi002 with Protools and copped an Audiofire 8 with Ableton Live 8. I'm using Vista 64 on an ASUS mobo. Monitoring inputs sound fine with the Echo Console, but when monitoring inputs with Live, there's constant crackling with the signal. The signal is not doubled as I have muted the Echo Console input while monitoring through Ableton. It's not a latency issue. I've tried buffer settings between 64 - 2048 and the issue still occurs. The Ableton sequencer is fine but I'd rather use an MPC. I haven't tried other DAWS yet but has anyone had similar issues with Ableton or an Audiofire?
 
Never had any issues like you mention with my Echo 8 .
Try and "split" the problem , DL a trial version of Reaper and see if that runs OK .
Have a look at the Echo site to see if there are specific drivers for your OS too .
