1. I dont think B and Aaliyah have same vocal styles so u caint compare.
2. I think B uses her vocal style alright altho sumtimes its annoyin
3. Aaliyah used hers perfectly and wit Tim they jus made da best music.
4.NO chemistry can compare to theirs xcept for Quincy and Michael.
5. Aaliyah would still be at da top today.
6. Alot of these fake artists would not be here which makes me so sad dat she passed because thats when Tim kinda fell back and dats when hip hop and rnb started to change for da worse.

Personally, I think she would've sold pretty well with that album, received enormous popularity and become a star for a while, only to be forgotten a year or two later.

Honestly, I feel in this genre she really didn't contribute a whole lot. It's not like her voice was particularly interesting, it was nice, it was soft, but there are plenty of vocalists now who are just as talented, if not more at the age that she was.

So, would she still be in the limelight? Probably not.

To be real , Aaliyah was destined to one day take Mary's spot, real talk. If you truly look at her transition throughout her albums, her style was becoming more polished, almost as if she was about to have that defining monet in her career, the same way that Mary did with SHAre My World. The sad painful thing is, we may never get to see that moment( until we are blessed to she in heaven, God willing). the point is, she would have been in the limlight, and many of the singers out here that try to mimic her style/character i.e Ashanti, Ciara, Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, and countless others would not even be in the running. Indeed, she was not a powerful singer, but that was part of her charm and talent. She had the abiltiy to employ her vocal drawbacks into triumphs. Plus, she was able to mesh characteristics of many of her peers- Mary's streetwise soul,Brandy's next-girl charm, Monica's sassiness, Aretha's stage presence, and Whitney's ability to mesh with music alloted to her, all combined into her own style. Today's singers are merely shadows of what she was doing- dancing(Ciara), phoney laidback style(ashanti), bootlegged sassiness(beyonce0, and the list goes on and o ( olviia, Britney, T.mari, etc.) i personally think that had Baby Girl still would have been here, not only wouldf she have limlight, but ondoubtedly have the crown on her pretty little head.

it would've been over for every RnB artist out there if Aaliyah was still livin.. That goes for Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Mary J., all of em...

I disagree, I disagree completely, lol.... I think she did contribute alot. "One in a Million" introduced a new vibe, a different sound. She put Timbo and Missy on the map, you can't deny that. I definately don't think she woulda been forgotten. Her album just dropped, she had the Matrix 2&3 lined up, a remake of Sparkle in the works, as well as Honey. As I mentioned in my previous post, some collabos w. Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) and Jonathan Davis (Korn) lined up. We weren't ready. We still ain't...

I kinad disagree with you on only one name-Mary. People fail to realize/acknowledge the fact that she is the Hova of R&B, and she set the stantard for many of the artists you see/hear that has came out after she did in 90. Personally, I think she would be still relevant, but aaliyah would be heir apparent to the throne. Mariah would probably be back to making pop music, Beyonce would be demoted back to R&B foot soldier lol. And any singers that attempted to fill her shoes would merely be forgotten( sorry Ashanti, ciara, etc.).

I believe that both artists would still be holding their ground. Both these ladies have totally different vibes. Beyonce is more pop friendly so she crosses over on the charts.

Aaliyah is chilled and laid back and more catered to the Urban crowd. I believe she would've been able to survive the charts since you now hear more producers trying left-centered styles of beats which Aaliyah is known for.

I'm a fan of both, so no real bias here. :)

All that matters is, Aaliyah made good songs... Beyonce makes trash. Those vocal chords are worthless if you don't use them right... and if all you can talk about is cuff links over some wack ass Swizz collage of worthlessness, well then I dunno what to tell ya. I do love her videos tho, just gotta mute them mawfukkaz.

I don't wanna compare them. I think Beyonce's voice is great, but she's a bit overrated; and I think Aaliyah was great, but I never heard what everyone else claimed to in her voice.

I think that it is a pretty valid thread, becasue everybody always talks about what if Big or 'Pac or Pun or soulja Slim were alive, what would the game be like, but never address what if Baby girl was ? i mean, i personall think that she was the cisp of greatness. It is safe to say that she would be where beyonce is now or better. sidebar, alot of people don't know this, but there was a rumor that Hova had a thing for her, which makes you wonder if maybe b is a questionable replacement.....interesting.

I agree that this is a valid thread, and it does highlight the fact that she is missed, especially when you look at the current crop of "so -called" artists that we have now.

I also agree with most of the comments made, but you will have to go into the "legends" pond to find anyone who is fuking wiv Mary J

Didn't read everything, just to put in my 2 cents. Aaliyah and Beyonce are in 2 different leagues. I'm one of the biggest Aaliyah fans on earth. My studio computer is named Aaliyah has Aaliyah backgrounds, I own all her albums, but that doesn't change the fact Beyonce Trumps Aaliyah in numerous statistical categories.

Beyonce traveled a speedball success route once exposed to the spotlight. Aaliyah took the road less traveled. If still alive today, I'm more than positive Aaliyah would be a major influence on R&B, but Aaliyah is more the same speed as Omarion, Ciara, Neo, Rhianna. Beyonce is the same speed as Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.

She's talked about every second of the day, I don't think that was Aaliyah's path in life. She wasn't here for paparazzis and scandals and to be on every back issue of Us Weekly. She made good music, a few movies, and was a wonderful real person. Not some glammed up hollywood puppet camera whore(no disrespect to Beyonce), it's just some do everything to keep attention on them and are always performing, even when going to Target for toilet paper, others live pure lives and do music as a job.

Aaliyah was taken from earth when she was for a reason, so we can dream, but herself and beyonce are nothing alike.

the only reason i said i cant believe this is a real post is...

well look people aaliyah is gone and were dealing with alot of "what ifs" that will always be "we'll never know's"

and yea beyonce has a good & rangeful voice,a sexy ass body and blah blah...

she could not & will never have aaliyah's image

look at mj or prince...far from great singers(i dare some1 to argue about that) but even tho their voices were average at best...what made them great was their image & their relentless passion

when i think of beyonce i think of a spoiled ***** that is nice to look at & happens to sing

but when i think of aaliyah i think of a cool azz chick that was serious about her music, not worried about the public bull**** & held her people down

....but who knows...she left when God called...

...i do know 1 thing that we all should agree on though...she mustve known what the fuk she was doing to get mr 12play(r. kelly for those that didnt know who he was til he starting peeing on people) to commit...

...i know this doesnt have anything to do with this post but i named my dog kels cuz he pees on people to mark his terroritory...tru story...im tired so leave me alone

God rest the dead, but she was 15, he was 27. He's a pedifile, all she did was get taken advantage of by a perv. I won't comment more on this out of respect for Aaliyah's legacy, but I find it funny someone says a rapper is a snitch and people quit f**king with him without knowing if he did or not. While document after tape proves this dude's a pedifile and he's the industry it man.

I guess we gotta protect our grown ass criminal who get bagged from niggas droppin dime, but leave our vulnerable female black children to fend for themselves. When he go to jail with real real nikkas, not the ones who pretend to be on TV, he'll find out people who mess with kids are really the lowest of scum.

R.Kelly's a piece of sh*t.

I agree with alot of what you said. True, Aaliyah was no media whore, she knew how not to be over-exposed, she once said herself that she didnt want the fans to ever get sick of her. But with all the things she had planned (see one of my previous post in this thread), I think she woulda been on her way to superstardom. Maybe not in the same category as Beyonce - who I firmly believe is overexposed - but a star in her own right, nonetheless.

Btw, since u such a big Aaliyah fan, u should check the link in my sig ;) .... lol, im all about the shameless plug...
