Swagbass - Karoryfer Samples - Karoryfer Lecolds

I've played quite a bit of hip-hop, dancehall and reggaeton live, and this is my best bass for doing that, so I made a sample library of it. It has a really old and really dead set of strings on it, but it's a modern and clean-sounding bass with active electronics. That combo doesn't make much sense on paper but is perfect for a big thumpy sound. Most four-string basses have the lowest string tuned to E but this one is a C, and I also sampled it tuned down to A. Also, it has fabric from a fake Louis Vuitton scarf glued to it to make it more hood.

A total of 331 24-bit wav samples, 138 MB, and five different SFZ mappings (so you can use these in Sforzando or other free samplers). All a free download. And a couple more of my free basses - a new library of electric upright with some extra low detuned notes and the double bass samples I made last year - here: Karoryfer Samples - Karoryfer Lecolds

It's just an Ibanez BTB-400 I bought real cheap and refinished, so the body is mahogany with a maple top, neck is five pieces of maple and I think walnut, fingerboard is rosewood.

that's real cool of you bro.

Cool setup. Seems legit. You sound like your into A-ll the tricks.

I personally like reggaeton too. Real cool genre. not what I listen to, but I have a little in the past.

I do like Solomon Jabby just to give some shout out to that stuff.

AHH praise!

Thanks. I figured that most of the bass guitar samples out there are meant for rock and metal, so instead of making another one of those (which probably wouldn't be all that good, I don't really have much experience with those styles) I thought I'd fill a different niche.

I've made another bass library in the meantime. It sounds a little brighter than the Swagbass, and is bigger and more detailed. It's not aimed specifically at hip-hop, being more of a general-purpose bass guitar library. It's great for things like snappy 70s funk style basslines, and you can get a typical fat hip-hop sound out of it too, by cutting the treble and adding compression.

Perfect for backing up really tall white girls, LOL.

Here's a demo of these samples, totally unprocessed, playing the melody from a song Frank Sinatra sang.

I just finished a free guitar library that's also made with hip-hop in mind. A clean percussive sound for funky rhythms, no need to know a lot about guitar fingerings, positions or articulations. Details and download here:

And a demo using an opera aria melody, to take the sound through a wide range and both low and high velocities.

Lil Wayne has one too, LOL.

Made another free bass library. This one's different because I got a girl who's got very different tastes to play it. She goes for more of a dirty, noisy rock sound, but I did some less realistic mappings, and with a low-pass filter and a compressor it can be warm and deep but still keep some of the growl of the strings rattling against the frets. So, the first half of the demo is in realistic bass guitar mode, and the second is synthlike.

Now we're working on a cello together with bigcat instruments - we recorded the cellist, bigcat is doing the Kontakt instrument with built-in effects. And, just for fun and terrorism, some bagpipes.
