To each it's own, he's good, but i haven't heard most of his music anyways, so i can't really speak for him, i rarely listen to any sampled music. I know he said some real stuff in one of his interviews i heard, when he basically said buyin all this equipment ain't gonna make you better which is real talk, he said if you can dunk, u can do it whether you in jordans or chucks, what he said was real.

cool, definitely would like to hear it since i dig his style.
I dig his music too. I am not tryin to diss 9th in anyway of the sort. Just stating my opinion that he has not reached the status of greatness yet. I feel it would be disrespectful to the cats I mentioned before to say he is at their level when he has yet to break any new ground or produce a classic album. The Black Album was classic but I don't give 9th a lot of credit for that or any of the producers for that matter. That was all Jay

The man has skills. The thing with 9th and some of these FL users is that because he was one of the first people that bought the DAW some mainstream notice, he is instantly heralded as some sort of hero for those who cannot afford to spend thousnads of dollars on hardware. He justifies his reasons for sticking to FL with solid arguments and ultimately his talents speak for themselves. The acclaim and praise he receives as a trailblazer in the world of electronic music, more specifically Hip-Hop is well justified and earned. He might not be the best out there, sooner or later someone better or just as skilled comes along ( depending on your personal liking of course, see some of these Youtube guys) but as one of the first to show the power that this once oddly named computer app had, he secures his spot in the minds and hearts of FL users. I'd like to see him on Reason one day (or at least know what his opinions on this just as capable program are) and see if it ends the Hatfield and McCoy like "beef" that some of the users of both these programs have developed. His Sixth Sense remix was nice, almost better than the original. The Sitting Sideways remix pales in comparison with the Carnival Beats produced original.

FL should be braking a little change 9th way .
He is like a asset to them Promo wise

Don't get me wrong. 9th is talented, he's just nowhere close to being a top tier producer in my book, even amongst only sample based producers (not yet at least). In other words, I'm not gonna go out of my way to listen to a track that he produced. If anything, I don't understand how someone like him gets more work than Pete Rock (9th actually reminds me of a poor man's PR) or Large Pro.

I think his beats need to be mixed better.. they sound kind of hollow, no warmth to them.. and the rnb type of beats hes been doin lately kind of sound hiphopish.. same ol percussion sounds

phonte wanted him to step out the box wit his produciton.. maybe he's just not versatle enuff

at the end of the day he is still one of my favourites

He would probably agree with you...That said,he's a very good producer but there's no way that I can put him in the category of Pete Rock and Large Pro or the Beatminerz but he's not too far though...lol

FL has a EQ, A 5 bar parametric and a graphical. I actually think he imports his music into pro tools for mixing so I am not sure if that is the reason why

In Scratch he said Young Guru handles all that stuff.

For real? I could have sworn he did it himself.

Either way he uses FL strictly for its sampling capabilities. I think he uses a MIDI controller as well so hes not just another dude playing melodies on his keyboard

In an old interview he said he didnt use any "midi stuff" as he called it. That interview was old, though.

I wonder if 9th Wonder clicks his drum patterns into FL's step sequencer. I don't remember any sort of drum machine in his arsenal list ...

What are you talking about Xabiton? Huh? What? Is that a retort against my post? Is that a new question you want answered? Unless you're trying to refer to doing drums on piano keys ... I don't know what you're trying to say here ...

I seen a recent vid on YouTube, they show him talking to students in a studio and when I looked at the screen, I could have sworn I seen a lit up step-seq. Once I went MIDI, I NEVER went back.
