Great Article! These things seem obvious after doing production for a while but to someone new it can be confusing where to start. With just a laptop alone you have a million dollar recording studio, and I couldn't stress more than anything to have the right computer.

Some kind of acoustic treatment would be essential as well. DIY panels, or foam can be a cost effective starting point maybe. Excellent read btw...
 
You need a ratchet, big booty hood chick on deck if you making trap, club, radio, rnb joints. If you boombap, it would be advantageous to keep a couple "heads" around, maybe a dyke bltch who thinks she can rap. If you make EDM, a crew of white coeds, a few "bros" and a gang of fruity dudes will work.
