3 decks or other hardware for DJing?

Does anyone use three decks on this board when they spin for techno or house. ( I dont mean have three tables spinning but having all three tracks in the mix)? what about any outboard pieces, like samplers, synths, mods, effects, etc....as a added feature when you are spinning at a show?


I use three decks when I get the chance too and I also bring out my yamaha sampler for extra samples, fills, and taking samples in real time breaking them down, build them back up into something else. Also helps combining techno with ambient music (really weird stuff.)

Three 1200s, two tracks of Denon s5000, and a sampler. Grand old party. Mixing three together at once is not easy, and more than that is nuts.

i wouldnt mind getting another table (i already have 2)... im into blending acappella tracks together with breakbeat tracks so if i had a 3rd table i could mix in another track while the blend was happening :)

I have three decks but I mainly use the third one for accapellas and just bringing beats in and out of a mix.
 
cool sounds like people are taking the extra step with the third table. there is no wrong way to do it unless you wreck three at once (hehe) than its sound like a train crashing into a mountain witha bomb on it exploding on impact.


keep up the creativity and I hope to hear some of your sets on line. Ill be putting some stuff up as well.

i'v seen many dj's playing with a live conga player, and live saxephone...wich was nice.
 
that is cool. I have a couple of buddies that lay a live sax over some funky house and it sounds good.

I also heard there is a TECHNO band. a band that plays techno music with cellos, drums, bass etc.... has anybody hear any live techno bands?. We have a couple of live house bands here in chicago. its pretty interesting.

I also agree that abit of sax or trumpet goes down great with funky house.

Yup, the live techno scene is certainly alive and well here in Australia with Melbourne 3 piece Infusion (famous for that tech house track "Spike" and a swag of remixes) playing a wide range of dance styles including breaks, techno and house. I don't think they even do a DJ set to my kowlage.

If you didn't know, DAVE the Drummer puts on some quite amazing hard tech and acid techno shows as well, which is injecting interest back into the acid underground.

Another highly notable emerging live techno band is Kid Kay Ferris from Brisbane. They manage to capture the essance of 80s electro and translate it into relentlessly pounding yet intelligent techno.

Some others include Pounding Grooves, Pascal FEOS and me!
 
thats awesome I never know poundign grooves and F.E.O.S actually did it live with real drums, congos, cellos guitars etc......

I dunno abut cellos and guitars and stuff, it's all sequenced from what I can gather. Accoustic DnB bands are quite quite something to behold I reckon..

No, I'm pretty disorganized in that department at the moment :( I hope to have a little site up in the next year with some tracks and DJ mixes and stuff, but I've gotta learn Dreamweaver first which might take some time for a person of my intelect :confused:
