Studio Equipment and Reverb

Unlike an echo which consists of distinct repetitions of the initial audio source at discrete time intervals, reverb is the smearing of audio that happens in acoustic environments based on the following three conceptual events

Initial sound
Early reflections, including first reflections (first sounds to bounce off of the walls)
Ongoing reflections and ultimately dying away

The delay between the initial sound and the early/first reflections is sometimes referred to as the pre-delay and is an indication of the size of the room.

Ongoing reflections are a sign of both room size and the materials the walls and ceiliing and floor of the room is made from

As for what you need for a modern studio it depends on what you are trying to do -not a cop out but a genuine assessment of needs, needs to come before advice on what is needed to achieve them

if you don't know what reverb is you should really sit down and learn about audio engineering, production tools and terms before jumping to buy equipment and software

not trying to be a jerk but I would spend some time on this site reading some of the threads that are stickies the ones with the gold envelopes
and throw in some video from Youtube
you question is super vague!!!!!!!!!!
What is your budget and what kind of studio are you trying to built??
professional studio that rents out space or professional studio for personal use(or small label)??
are you recording acoustic instruments(drums,guitars,etc.)???
are you building from the ground-up as in new construction??
are you just a trying to be a bedroom producer??
1.figure out what room or rooms you're going to be using
2.figure what you're going to be doing it that room or rooms
