Sennheiser drums microphone test

Interesting concept, Pietro. The drums sound good (very natural). Are you using a separate room microphone? If not, I'd suggest giving it a try (mono). If you have a compressor available, crush the room mike, and sneak it into your drum mix.

Thanks rhythmgj, I'm not using a room microphone, I was actually thinking if it would help the sound and how.
Can you tell me what do you mean for crush? I'm not expert in using compressor (I use Pro Tools for mixing).

so what specific sennheisser's are you using

as for the crushing of the room mic apply a 10:1 or even 20:1 ratio threshold at about -30dBfs, attack fast and release moderate (which compressors do you have access to in pt?)

I use 2 Sennheiser e914 overhead + Shure Beta 57a for snare and AKG D112 for bass drum.

In Pro Tools I use the basic Compressor.
Which one should be the effect of such a compressed room mic?

There are a few different compressors that come stock with PT-11 so is it the BF76 Compressor? Channel Strip? Dynamics III-> Compressor/Limiter?

given that you are effectively using the Sennheiser's as A|B overheads this is an astonishing sound which I really like

adding a room mic might be overkill in this situation
