Piano VST sounds dull and flat...

Hi there,

I have been reading up on this problem and I can't seem to find good answers. Basically when I am playing piano the mid to low regions of the piano sounds so quiet, flat, dull and muffled as if I have cotton wool in my ears.

I am using a Yamaha hammer action piano with the Imperfect Samples Fazioli piano VST through Kontakt and have a latency of 13ms. I used to have a copy of the Grand 2 from Steinberg and had a similar issue with that.

Maybe my Midi controller is too soft but no matter what I do by piano sound doesn't sound bright enough, there is no sparkle...

Has anyone had a similar issue?

velocity map may need to be adjusted so that you get better performance in the low end - most controllers are mapped linearly

the other thing to consider is whether your compression, eq and gain structure is appropriate for your sound sources
