Cubase artist or Cubase

I am new and I am learning from the book, tough. Do I need Cubase 7 or I am good with artist 6.5? Thanks

artist will suffice for now, but you should consider at what point you will be moving forward to 7 or even 8

8? We're only on 7.0.6.....haven't gotten to 7.1 nor 7.5, yet! Only Steiny would be considering 8........though I'd love to see it!

yeah at least six to twelve months before we see it, but the op seems to be heading towards that point (6-12 months in the future) before considering the next major version
