I want to start a career making music but what do you call some one who makes dnb trance dubstep etc
I know I am not a producer a producer is much more then just making beats
I heard people who make rap beats are called beatmakers
Does this apply if you make othermusic as well like drum and bass?
Im not a producer But to get started on my career i gotta figure out what I exactly am first
Thanks!

As far as I've understood, "producer" could mean different things in different industries. In electronic music, it is common that the composer usually produces his tracks as well, as the whole production phase is almost equally as important as the composition phase. In fact, there is no clear line between them. But if you find that musician is not enough, go with music producer as this is exactly what you mean. And if that is still lacking a bit of the fanciness you so desire, use "EDM prdoucer". Or "dubstep god".

You have the freedom to "label" yourself as you wish, go ahead. ;-)

Its not the label i care about, Call me DnB God for all I care Its just I am looking for college programs/ careers making music which is why I need to figure what society calls us :/ I checked the music production programs in college and its all about performing on stage -_-

okay if you're looking for college programs/higher education programs
you'll be looking for programs in music production
it won't hurt to take some real instrument training(piano/guitar).

right now you can learn tons from youtube
because most music production programs will just teach you stuff you can easily learn by yourself with time and determination.
the most important thing about taking (higher education music production courses) is what you may ask?????????
the ppl you meet ..(contacts)
you never know who will get a job with disney or get in good with a top-notch indie label and wants to bring you in to the fold as well
because they know your production skills

so if I was you
I would take courses in
1.music production
2.audio engineering(tracking also known as recording,mixing,mastering)
maybe specialize in live/mobile recording
3.piano/guitar lessons
