if you're making the beat, writing new songs, and recording them, and memorizing them, where do you find time to promote the music. if you're working on your own?

Nobody is making music 24/7

1.have relationships,network before you even have a product(have a website up)
Features | HostBaby, blog right away, film yourself making your music for your EP,LP,demo...get the audience to connect to your through your lfe story, yourhard work, blood, and tears to make your music..(yes is should be fun too lol)
2.make a product EP,LP,three track demo,etc..(soon as you get one song done get it up on your website)make sure you use a professional mix engineer if you can't mix..or track..invest in yourself even if you have to go to a outside studio to record
3.Promote,advertiste https://www.futureproducers.com/for...-links-resources-indie-artists-labels-364398/

One big con is that I have a hobby that is not really relatable. Most people talk about their lives in conversations, but when I do that, people either get it and think its awesome, or people are just so confused and feel awkward.

are you talking about when I said in the last post to tell your story to your audience??

if so or even if not...
yes ppl either get it and think it awesome or ppl are just confused and feel awkward
well
your music should be to satisfy your niche market if you're able to crossover to more wider market that's great...
puff daddy's niche market when he first started BadBoy Records was for hip hop fans who like party music(112,Craig Mack) and hardcore rap fans (biggie) with Mase he went more Pop,when making songs that featured J.Lo...shiny suits
slowly moved from hip-hop to pop..everyone knows...
P.Diddy,Puff Daddy...Sean Combs whatever he goes by now....

so have a business plan that evolves with your company's/brand's goals...
your business manager/consultant/coach should help you with this as you evolve as artist with response to your fan base you have and the fan base you want

don't need to "promote" really...just put all your shit on WSHH, right?

those things can be done AFTER you stacked up some proper paper, credibility, and credentials...

having you business in order should be essential in your music CAREER..now if you just want to rap and have, make a few dollars here and there..that's fine.

you want to have those ppl on your team..that doesn't mean you need to put them in the game...everytime you play...use them when it's neccessary for your music CAREER

use those ppl can help your stack proper paper and keep it...no tax problems=CPA,bookeeper,
Entertaintment lawyer hook you up with other artists and industry contacts for more credentials and get you the contract you deserve

you can practice basketball alone..but you'll need a team and coach to be in the game...with a better chance of winning...with the right teammates

sure it is...

it's just not the FIRST thing you do...

list how you would go about it...
1.
2.
3.etc...

I was looking from a point of view that the person already starting recording and making beats and has a vision for songs to become a EP,LP

start focusing on business when the majority of your clients have their business intact.

for example: (in general)

if you're a professional, most of who you do business w/ are people who are professional themselves

if you're an amateur / rookie, most of who you do business w/ are people who are amateurs / rookies themselves.

your client-base dictates your level of professionalism.
